Established in 1990, LucasArts Entertainment Company became home to LucasFilm Games, and with it, it inherited almost a decade of gaming history. LucasArts also played host to several other Lucas outfits, including Industrial Light and Magic, however a restructure in 1993 saw these other non-videogame operations moved into the newly created Lucas Digital, resulting in LucasFilm Games finally being re-branded as LucasArts.
It was soon clear that the changes were literally skin deep, as LucasArts continued its predecessor's high quality mix of titles based on Lucas' film properties, such as 3D space shooter, X-Wing, and original IP like point-and-click adventurers Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road. This continued with classics such as Escape from Monkey Island, the fourth title in the Monkey island series, and Gamecube launch title, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader.
Currently based in San Rafael, California, LucasArts remains one of five companies in the Lucas group, including Lucasfilm, Lucas Digital, Lucas Licensing and Lucas Learning.
LucasArts's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1990 title, "Nightshift" (Amiga).
The company has been involved titles released on the PC, 3DS/2DS, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS/DSi, PS2, Power Mac, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, N64, Sega Megadrive, SNES, Amiga, ST, NEC PC Engine, Sega Master System, C64, Spectrum 48K, Sinclair Spectrum 128K and Amstrad CPC. Of these, "Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures" (Xbox 360), "LEGO Star Wars" (PS2), "Star Wars: Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II" (GameCube), "LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga" (Wii), "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike" (GameCube) has been a best selling title.
The company's most recent involvement was on the 2013 release "Star Wars 1313" (Xbox 360).
