Summary

Established in 1990, LucasArts Entertainment Company became home to Lucasfilm Games, along with a host of other Lucas outfits, including Industrial Light and Magic. In 1993, a restructure saw these other outfits moved into the newly created Lucas Digital, leaving Lucasfilm Games rebranded as LucasArts.

Early hits included 3D space shooter, X-Wing, and point-and-click adverturers, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road, followed later by classics such as Escape from Monkey Island, the fourth title in the Monkey island series, and Gamecube launch title, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader

Currently based in San Rafael, California, LucasArts remains one of five companies in the Lucas group, including Lucasfilm, Lucas Digital, Lucas Licensing and Lucas Learning.

Software Highlights from Credited Titles

LucasArts's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1990 title, "Pipe Mania" (Amiga).

The company has been involved titles released on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PC, Power Mac, PSP, DS, GameCube, GBA, PlayStation, Xbox, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, N64, Sega Megadrive, SNES, Amiga, ST, NEC PC Engine, Sega Master System, C64, Spectrum 48K, Sinclair Spectrum 128K and Amstrad CPC. Of these, "Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures" (Xbox 360), "LEGO Star Wars" (PS2), "Star Wars: Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II" (GameCube), "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike" (GameCube), "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" (GameCube) has been a best selling title.

The company is currently involved with the forthcoming 2009 release "Star Wars: The Old Republic" (PC).
