Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer has come to the defence of fellow Microsoft Xbox One salesman, Don Mattrick.Don's
copped a great deal of flak of late, especially for stating that if you've not got a decent Internet connection, hell, you should buy an Xbox 360 not an Xbone. Phil gives some love:
"I know Don," he says of Microsoft's president of the company's interactive entertainment business. "He's been in his industry for decades. He started as a game developer with his own studio. For it somehow to get twisted that Don doesn't care about gaming, as someone who knows the man, I know that is not him. He does care about the gamers."
Phil also calmed all our fears about the 24-hour update that your Xbone will have to send back to Microsoft HQ to tell the corporates there that it's not dead or stolen. Speaking to
GameInformer about the 1.5Mbps connection needed for Xbox One, he said that he, "is confident that anyone who can play online now with an xbox 360 will have no problems with the Xbox One."
Finally, despite the widely held contention that PS4 is now going to kill Xbone, Phil says:
"We have more than one competitor. When you think about where they play games today, they play on a lot of different devices. I think it's wrong to think that the universe only consists of two things." Yes, it's not simply Xbone vs PS4 at all. No way.
