Look, we really wanted to use the pun "Killzone Free" in the headline but that would have been horribly misleading so we didn't. Instead we're going to point you in the direction of a trailer for SOE's new FPS called Bullet Run.

The new game, tailered below, is in fact Sony Online Entertainment's PC-based free-to-play multiplayer FPS and it's out soon. When we say "soon" we mean "this summer".

Of course, it's set in a post-Apocalyptic Dystopian future as is the law with 94.4% of all new video games in this time of recession and risk aversion. Given that something like The Hunger Games did quite nicely, well, this is what Sony has to say:

"Bullet Run is the hottest new reality TV game show. Contestants battle to the death with real ammo, real weapons and real attitude. Episodes take place on a variety of sets including a warehouse, a shanty town, an oil rig and more."

The multiplayer aspect encompasses up to 20 players using six arenas (maps) with two game modes available at launch: Team Death Match and Domination.

Executive director of business development and corporate strategy of SOE, Christopher Sturr says, "While our games portfolio continues to grow across many different genres of online gaming, the addition of Bullet Run brings an entirely new level of entertainment to the gameplay experience for both the free-to-play community and fans of first-person shooters,” said . “The game promises a high-energy, persistent combat experience that few FPS games have obtained, while also lowering the barriers of entry for more casual players looking for a unique gaming experience.”

The game is developed by Acony not Sony. Acony's founder Frank Trigub says, “We believe the sexier, media-driven storyline sets it apart from other FPS [first-person shooter] games and will continue to attract new players who might be tired of the same military shooters."
