DC Universe Online Solves Sony's Pre-Owned Problem - Annoys Gamers
Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed that your disc copy of DC Universe Online and the key to activate the game are one and the same. In short, no resale for you.

In am email, reported by QJ, an SOE rep states:

"Once the PSN key has been consumed with a disk it cannot be resold/ replayed with the second user adding a sub - only the original consumer can use that acct.

"Disk and account are one," was the confirmation.

In short, no resale.

A good thing and one that should be repeated in order to direct revenue back to the publisher and developer and therefore fund new and exciting game development? Or a bad thing meaning that fewer gamers can afford to purchase new games? Discuss.

Doesn't bother me, I don't trade games in I only buy new want I really want and that isn't much any more, and I pick up the bargains as I see them, and prolly never play em, still got mirrors edge for a couple of quid sealed and never played.

But I do rent games so I suppose I cant rent this one..

@haritori

Doesn't make a difference to me, but it does "bother" me (prevention of resale).

It's their choice what format they choose for distributing their game. We will see if this affects sales (or seems to).

However - what is there actually to stop someone from "changing their account details" on an existing account? You could just "sell the account"?

An absolutley disgusting thing by law there should be a warning to this effect on everycase saying absolutely not for resale is an insult and descrimination to gamers who don't have the revenue to afford brand new games we don't all have money being handed out to us its and insult to the consumer and the distributer as well as they obviously are not included in the few who have this information so they have been paying people for their discs then selling them on unwittingly only to now have a bunch of useless discs that are going nowhere on top of that the game costs you £39.99 then for subscription after the free trial 80 days costs you a further £27.99 and 180 days costs you £49.99 thats more than the bloody game itself
