Japan: Half year sales explosion
Famitsu has published the numbers that matter, revealing detailed breakdowns of game and platform sales in the land of Japan, where you can buy all sorts of games as well as girls' pubic hair clippings in vending machines. And fish.

No real surprises to report though, with Gran Turismo selling incredibly well in spite of its cutdown release and the PlayStation 2 platform edging out the competition. Nintendo will no doubt be pleased to see more evidence of the supremecy of its DS, with the machine's software simply head and shoulders above the scant offerings of PSP.

Wow. 9000 XBOXes in 6 months. I just don't know HOW they're going to market the 360 over there...

Don't forget making it a size and weight they can actually carry :D

Oh, and something about some decent Jap-style games, like RPGs and stuff. But I'm sure the seaweed, sushi and weight are way more important!

Good to see the DS proving many people wrong.

Japanese apathy of Xbox is interesting and humbling for MS for a company with such global PC dominance. More RPGs on 360 is a good idea but they have to match the huge amount on PS2, most japanese developers favourite console to develop for. Will they favour PS3 or Rev to keep money coming into Japan or purely on the games?

I think it's great that Nintendo have been humbled in the past and now Sony and MS are getting a dose. That's right japanese Davids', stick that sword into Goliath's leg and twist it a little.

Xbox in Japan, that's history here and there isn't even existant.MS will need constant cash throwaways in there only to see Xbox360 name anywhere. Fortunately for them, Ninty's japanese support is very lame so there just might be enough place to create better image of Xbox.I don't think that they'll outsell Revo but MS could've better support in the long run.
And Sony...no comment.

No surprises with GT4 on the top of that list.

As for Xbox 360 success in Japan, I don't think it's gonna happen. I think MS throw a ton of money toward marketing in Japan, but I think no matter what they'll do, the 360 will not succeed. I think it is a good idea to get more RPG's for the box, but I'm still a bit reluctant.
