Microsoft adamant about Xbox success

Company willing to double their spending if necessary.

Microsoft has stated once and for all that the Xbox, thought by some to have the dreaded Dreamcast syndrome, will succeed in the long term, irrespective of market conditions.

Speaking to assembled press in the US, the firm’s chief financial officer John Connors was asked about any possible exit strategy for the project, should it prove monumentally unpopular.

His answer was simply, “The fallback position is probably to double down and make it successful.” Doubling-down is a casino term for simply doubling your stake following a loss during a game.

For reference, estimates put the immediate loss over five years for the project at a staggering $1 billion per year.
