British Telecom, the firm charged with dragging its heels over broadband penetration in the UK, has announced a deal with Microsoft to bring broadband Xbox gaming to our humble shores.
Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft multimedia stuff will be carried by BT and, more importantly to the consumer, support the Xbox Live online gaming system.
“Both our organisations will be working hard to ensure we spot the right opportunities and quickly bring to market great products and services that match the needs of our customers,” Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said in a statement.
This should mean that Xbox Live roll-out proper can begin immediately, as Microsoft will surely be leaning on BT to get up to speed with UK broadband penetration.
