Japanese Xbox sales slip below a thousand
In the worst sales figures seen since launch, we can confirm that Microsoft shifted just 834 Xbox hardware units in Japan between May 13-19 this year.

Microsoft has watched as its prized offering to gamers was easily outsold by everything else on the market. Bandai’s WonderSwan Color shifted 1,391 units, the Game Boy Color managed 2,176 units and the PSOne sold 5,441 units.

The leader of the pack, as always across the world, was the PlayStation 2 selling as it did 67,174 units.

GameCube sales are also fairly low, with Nintendo’s machine only just outselling the PSOne with 5,862 units sold. This being said, it must be remembered that in Japan twice the amount of GameCube machines have been sold than Xbox.

It seems that Xbox Japan’s main hope now lies with Sega’s support. Sega is poised to release Panzer Dragoon and Crazy Taxi 3 for the machine, both of which look fantastic and play brilliantly.

We’ll keep you updated as things progress.
