Phil Fish Rules Out Xbox Version of Fez 2
Polytron's Phil Fish has said that Fez 2 will not be making its way to Xbox One, thanks to his past experience with Microsoft and the console's inability to allow indie developers to self-publish their games.

When asked what platforms the highly-anticipated sequel will land on, Fish bluntly said, "not Xbox." He then went on to speak highly of the PlayStation 4, according to Polygon. "PS4 seems to be doing everything right.

"It's too early to tell how everything is going to unfold, but their heart definitely seems to be in the right place. Which is a weird thing to say when talking about giant monolithic corporation, but there's a handful of people working at Sony today who are really trying to do some good," he added.

"And whether or not I would develop for it comes down to how the platform holder treats me. With Microsoft they've made it painfully clear they don't want my ilk on their platform. I can't even self-publish there. Whereas on PS4, I can. It's that simple. Microsoft won't let me develop for their console. But Sony will."

The original, which was a console exclusive on Xbox 360, became a most treasured title among Xbox Live Arcade players, selling over 200,000 copies. But shortly after work on the Xbox version was completed, Fish was vocal about Microsoft's policies in launching patches for the game.

As a result of his experience, Polytron announced at the turn of the year that it was porting Fez to "other platforms," although did not specify what those platforms were. Sounds like Fish is looking to hop across to Sony for the next generation.
