Gamestop Touts Kinect As Motion Control Leader
Throws its gauntlet into retail ring
American games retailer Gamestop has thrown its hat into the ring regarding the recently released motion controllers, the Sony Playstation MOVE and the Microsoft Kinect by backing one of the two as the number one seller over Christmas. Can you guess which one?
Quizzed as to which of the two controllers will take the top slot for peripheral sales over the period of good cheer, the senior VP or merchandising and marketing, Bob McKenzie, replied:
"I'd say right now Microsoft's Kinect is looking to be the winner of the two for us.
"We're very happy with the sell through over the weekend. It has met our expectations and actually exceeded our initial forecasts."
To date, Sony has shipped 2.5m units of MOVE whilst Microsoft increased its sales forecast for Kinect by Christmas from 3m units sold to 5m units.
