The flirting between Sony's PlayStation division and Google's Android platform continues, as a job listing on the company's website seeks a London-based senior server engineer with experience in the mobile platform.
According to a screengrab obtained by Endadget, the position asks for someone that is "specifically" knowledgable in Android programming, with "knowledge/experience of online gaming."
It follows a report from the tech website that said that Sony Ericsson is interested in combining elements of the PSP Go into its next smartphone. This would seem to support those industry whispers.
With Microsoft integrating Xbox Live with Windows Phone 7 devices, and Apple launching Game Center on its iOS platforms, Sony needs a way to get its PlayStation Network into the mobile space. Do you like the idea? As always, speak out in the comments box below.

I've always said that since Apple are pushing the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad as gaming devices (boasting about how their sales beat DS and PSP sales) then they need to add physical game controls to the devices so that any types of games can be played properly on them.
*If* this PSP phone thing is real, I think it could prove to be a serious contender to the iOS devices if Sony allow the same sort of open development on the hardware (assuming it will have PSP like controls along with touch n tilt)

If it's to play PSP games, I don't see how this is that "serious a contender" - if someone doesn't yet own a PSP, is a PSP phone really going to persuade them? Maybe if it has a longer battery life than the PSP? ;)
Honestly, though, the PSP's analog "nub" is its weak point in my opinion... if we're talking about adding game control-hardware to a phone, please improve on that at least.
Still, I hope they do try this - games-on-phones could do with a bit of a step forward.

It's not exactly a PSP. There are going to be some PSP games remade for the device with nicer graphics but may of the games will be brand new, made for the device.
Good news and bad news about the analog - there's 2 of them now, but hardware wise they are actually worse than the PSP stick.
