It has been reported by research consultants Thomas Weisel Partners, that the Xbox might face a delay of over a month, as a result of issues surrounding the Intel Motherboard.
“We can say there is absolutely no problem with the design of Intel's motherboard,” Microsoft spokesman James Bernard said. “They've been fantastic partners and delivered on everything to date. We're still marching toward our planned November 8th launch for Xbox.”
With initial shipping expectations quoted at up to 800,000 units at American launch, Microsoft cannot afford mistakes at this stage. The company will also be eager to avoid the pitfalls that dogged Sony during its disastrous launch of the PlayStation 2.
News has also surfaced that the manufacture of the Xbox, taking place in Europe and Mexico, is well ahead of schedule. Even if the rumoured motherboard issues are true, word has it that the release date for the machine will remained unchanged.
