Japan Hardware: All Platforms Sales Rise, Except PSP Go
Japanese hardware figures are in for the week from 7th - 13th December, and even though the nation generally doesn't celebrate Christmas, the holiday season is proving enough reason to buy truckloads of consoles, with almost every format seeing a significant increase in sales.

The only platform to not get any winter warmth is the PSP Go, which saw 335 fewer units sold than last week. This makes it several weeks in a row where the handheld has dropped off in sales following a reasonable launch. Surely its fate is on Sony's list of things to address in 2010.

The standard PSP is selling very well indeed however, and currently beating all iterations of Nintendo's DS platform in the handheld charts to the top spot. Of course, the DSi, DSi LL and DS Lite sales combined absolutely dwarf Sony's UMD device. After a few weeks of being the dominant version, the big-screen edition of the DSi makes way for the regular one to take second place.

In the home console charts, the Wii is still going strong after the continuing popularity of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The PlayStation 3 is trailing some 60,000 units, but no doubt that will be different in a few days time, when Media Create release sales data for this past week. The Xbox 360 is also gaining some traction, possibly under the influence of Modern Warfare 2, which performed well at #12 in the Software Charts.
