THQ has today announced the "immediate appointment" of Edward L. Kaufman as the company's Executive Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, and Corporate Secretary (phew).
If the name sounds familiar to those in business circles, it's because Kaufman's 15 year career has involved working in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Before that, he worked with Hannah-Barbera and NBC under no-doubt similarly long titles.
THQ and the WWE have an extremely close relationship already with the former holding the licenses to make WWE games. Interestingly as we write this, Kaufman's biography still remains on the
WWE site as an executive officer. Whether this is pure laziness or the fact that Mr K' now holds joint positions at both companies is something we're trying to find out.
Edward Kaufman returned the sentiment, "I am impressed with THQ's strong turnaround and am excited to join the team as the company moves forward with its new more focused strategic plan. I look forward to helping THQ capitalize on the opportunities for growth in the interactive entertainment industry."
Well, yes.
