It's all change at the top of the UK's video game publishing industry body. Managing director, Michael Rawlinson, takes over as director general from Paul Jackson.
According to ELSPA, Jackson is "stepping aside" but "moving into an advisory role within the organisation."
As MD, Rawlinson (
interviewed by SPOnG here) "has been responsible for the day-to-day management of the association and was instrumental in developing PEGI, the pan-European voluntary age rating system for videogames, which came into operation April 2003."
He is also the video games industry representative to the executive board of the highly contentious UK Council for Child Internet Safety.
ELSPA chairman, Andy Payne, is diplomatic regarding the changes,"We greatly thank Paul Jackson for his dedication and commitment over the past two and a half years, establishing ELSPA as a key conduit between the video games industry and the UK Government.
"Whilst we are losing Paul on an operational basis, we are fortunate that he will continue to support ELSPA in his new role."
Sure, it looks like some form of polite code for "get your coat" to us as well. That aside, Mike Rawlinson is a popular figure and should be well placed to enable ELSPA to continue its fight for PEGI supremacy in the rating war with the BBFC.
