"We are very pleased with the success of the game", said Mario Wynands, Managing Director of Sidhe Interactive, the game development studio behind the title. "Very strong competing products were introduced onto the market during the Christmas season, but we took the number 1 slot and keep it through one of the busiest videogame sales periods of the year".

Before launch Rugby League broke the EB Games worldwide single store preorder record when over 1,150 units of the game were preordered at EB Games Eastgarden's store in Sydney, Australia. The record was formerly held by a US based EB Games store for preorders of GTA3: Vice City.

"The sales, public response and feedback have been truly remarkable these past 4 weeks", said David Robles, Business Development Manager of Tru Blu Games, publisher for the game. "It's a great result for the local industry".

Rugby League (known as Stacey Jones Rugby League in NZ and SuperLeague Rugby League in Europe) is available for the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox and PC platforms.
