Summary

It's time to hit the shiny hardwood floor once again with 2008's entry into the NBA Live series. Height is no object here: you don't need to be a seven foot giant to sink the ball into the net and win the day - all you need is opposable thumbs and a good sense of timing to take on the all-American sport of basketball.

This year EA has taken greater pains than ever to re-create the feel of being on the court. New moves have been added to help you own the paint. Put the ball in the over-sized mitts of your big men to make them perform brand new moves and counters, including pump fakes, drop steps and spins.

If that sounds a bit broad to you, you might want to use individual players 'go-to' moves. Every great player has something to pull out of the bag when the game is on the line and it can all go Pete Tong. Now EA has re-created some of those moves for you to pull out when you need it most. A patented step back jumper? It's there. A fadeaway with the big leg kick? Oh yes.

Next-gen gamers will also be able to make the most of the new Quickstrike Ballhandling. Mapping of handling controls to the right analogue stick means you'll be able to get quicker, more accurate and more responsive ball-handling as you push down the court. << less
