Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Island Thunder - PC
Summary
The gritty realism of Red Storm's first-person shooters is well documented throughout the PC gaming community. No game is more worthy of such merit than Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - an immersive experience that can, at times, be so enthralling that completing the game can lead to immense disappointment at the fact that there are no more levels to play. It is a magnificent thing, therefore, that the good guys at Red Storm keep us updated with expansion packs, giving us new missions and maps periodically, and keeping the smiles on our faces and the twitches in our trigger fingers.
The second add-on for Ghost Recon, Island Thunder provides such a service, taking the tour of duty to Cuba. The year is 2009, Castro is dead, and the first free elections in decades are thrown into turmoil by a drug-funded warlord. The Ghosts, an elite team of US Army Green Berets (that's you and your squad), are sent in as part of a UN peacekeeping force to destroy the rebel forces and their mercenary leaders and secure the elections for a free Cuba.
This update offers eight new single-player missions, set in an all-new campaign on the island of Cuba. Never ones to disappoint the multiplayer community, the developers have also included five new dedicated multiplayer maps, as well as 12 new multiplayer weapons, including the M4 SOCOM rifle and the MM-1 automatic grenade launcher. There's also a few new enemy and allied vehicles, and insertions by helicopter.
In a nutshell, that's it. What more can be said? If you own Ghost Recon then you already know how much you need this expansion pack. If you don't, then you'll have to buy that as well.
