The 128-bit version of Twisted Metal is one the most anticipated updates to any PlayStation series. The world of Twisted Metal is dark and disturbing, in fact it’s probably one of the most twisted environments created in the game world. Don’t be mistaken, this is game of death and destruction where players use their vehicles to annihilate each other. If you have no fear, get into the driver’s seat.
Everything you loved about the previous two Twisted Metal games is back and better than ever. The jump to PS2 hardware means so much in terms of graphics and the detail in the battle arenas. The resolution has been increased, the polygon count has gone through the roof and there's a lot going on in the backgrounds. Environments are subject to varying weather conditions, living pedestrians, and interactive objects. There are 18 battlegrounds for deathmatch battles, and 11 set aside especially for the single player game.
The control method has been tidied up considerably, and cars now handle better than ever. Precise movement is registered by the analogue d-pad making long, controllable powerslides a pleasurable reality. Additionally, the physics of the game are better than ever, making destruction that little bit more believable.
Twisted Metal: Black is at its best in the multi-player mode. Whether it’s Deathmatch, Co-op, or Endurance play you’re after, this game has it all. With excellent weapons, massive explosions, and a smooth frame rate, Twisted Metal: Black will smoothly ease away your aggressive tendencies.
