Bejewelled Xbox 360 – worth $11k
So, yes it’s one of those days where big stories are thin on the ground. But even so, we would just have to show you this one, even if we were in the midst of the busiest mid-E3 news overload day.

It is an Xbox that has been decorated with thousands of tiny expensive crystals by some bored Germans . They claim that it is worth around 9,000€ (about $11,000 USD).

Stop that sniggering at the back!

Boris Schneider-Johne, from Xbox’s Germany office, has told some random Internet person that they are working with Eidos celebrate the release of SPOnG’s current favourite, Tomb Raider: Legend, paying a special homage to Tomb Raider's Lara Croft in the process, by sticking lots of expensive stones onto a games console.

Apparently they glued 3,000 small crystals to make this special edition Xbox 360 to give away, though SPOnG thinks they actually used a bunch of plastic beads, glimmering light effects courtesy of Photoshop.

SPOnG will soon be sticking a load of shiny plastic to some exclusive videogame merchandise to give away for a world exclusive competition. Our brains are currently fried after looking too long at this picture of what is now called in the SPOnG office ‘the Shiny Xbox of German Shame’, so if you have any ideas about what very expensive and pointless things we could offer as prizes, please let us know in the forum below.

It does look a lot like someone did indeed glued a lot of those plastic "make your own bracelets for kids" beads on a Xbox360...
