Capcom Research & Development division chief Keiji Inafune has made a more than pleasing comment regarding the future of the acclaimed Resident Evil series, confirming that current plans see a multi-platform next-generation launch.
Hot on the heels of Inafune's latest game being shown, an Xbox 360 exclusive,
details of which you can digest here, the famed Capcom development lead has confirmed that the next instalment of what will certainly be survival horror gaming gold will see a simultaneous launch for both Xbox 360 and the still-shadowy PlayStation 3.
“We want to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise, so we hope to release it simultaneously [on the both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360]” Inafune told Xbox360ism, a Dorimaga Xbox 360 special supplement. “But since we don't know the launch period for the PS3 yet, so it's hard to say (sic) if this will be possible.”
Of course, this hints that a PlayStation 3 version could be left behind if its launch slips, a prospect that Microsoft and its fans are surely relishing as the possibility to secure a massive exclusive looms.
We will, of course, let you know exactly what happens, when it happens. We're nice like that.
