Girls can be quite rubbish. For instance, upon entering an arcade in a mall, perhaps somewhere on the west coast of the US, your female companion might see you challenge a top-notch Asian teenager at, say, King of Fighters 2002. She may even see you beat your rival nine rounds out of nine and you graciously relinquish controls to your crushed enemy so he may practice, perhaps one day to be able to honour your presence.
"You made that kid look like he was going to cry. He looked like he was going home to be beaten by his father or something," is your reward...
So now that we've filled out this story a little, you can enjoy some fresh screens of King of Fighters XI, running on Sammy's Atomiswave arcade board. Okay, it might look like a Dreamcast game from 1999 but it looks as though it will play wonderfully. We imagine butter melting across a crumpet, jam on the side, naturally.
Some new details emerging about the play system include the ability to cancel Dream supers, thus extending the life of any given combo, a super meter based around combo length and intricacy and enhanced character shift abilities, including the option to save a character at the end of their life.
So, if any of that means anything to you, you should be looking forward to the global arcade release of KOF XI, slated for autumn of this year. Console versions are already in the works.
