Austin Game Conference to stage talks on development issues

A PSP, yesterday.
A PSP, yesterday.
For anyone still pondering the intricacies of the PSP’s internal workings, the news that Sony will be staging a full public technical discussion should be reassuring stuff. Between the 9th and 10th of September, at the Austin Game Conference in Texas, the handheld’s innards will be exposed to the world, and programmers will have the opportunity to discuss the most prevalent development issues.

Some of the major topics will relate to Talkman compatibility and the PSP’s ability to engage in wireless 16 player multiplayer gaming. All in all, it’s set to be the most in-depth examination of the PSP’s potential seen thus far: so should reveal a variety of interesting perspectives. As soon as news filters back, read the update here.

Please do so. I want prices, since I'm not bothered by specs anymore.

Okay the thing looks cool and impressive an' all, but:

a) I'm not buying mini versions of games I already own
b) I'm not rebuying movies that I already own because UMD isn't recordable
c) What's the point of the neck chain? If you hang that thing around your neck it will either:
i) cause you spinal damage
ii) get nicked by some pikey bastard
d) That screen is going to get scratched to s**t in no time
e) How's it going to fit in anyones pocket?
f) If it costs more than £100, you may as well just buy a PS2 instead.
g) Nobody's going to buy another addon thing to turn it into a cell phone if they already own a cell phone.
h) We all know the online download thing it has will NEVER happen they way anyone says

Well its a portable its bound to cost alot.
Might as well buy a PS2?
Well i'd like to see you hang one of those round your neck..
i really would!
:D
The image of you hunch-backed would really crack me up, No-one would dare try and nick that off you as they'd think you were a escaped mental Patient.

Remeber this is a portable device , no need in comparing it towards a home console.
And if you remeber Sony published photos of a Screen protector...
i cant find them now but believe me there is one.
so there wouldnt be many problems with the screen.

And i heard they would be recordable UMDs just that the PSP itself could'nt burn them
But they will come in the form of PC Add-ons.

You say you got the DVDs?
Well if sony has its way this will be the DVD replacement, sure it does'nt have as many gigs as a DVD but im sure this thing if not a replacement a very good format.
:)

Imagine home TV UMD players similer to Home DVD players.

It really could work.

Think about it.

EDIT: The reason i have such strong posative views for the PSP is because i am really fond of it and even have one of few dedicated sites on it at the moment.

http://www.sony-psp.cjb.net

Alot of my views are there.

Alot of people have bad views on the PSP but the more i see of it the better it gets for me..
i guess we'll all see in time..

Thanks

That's sweet for ya. Dunno about the rest but I'm trying to say that PSP is similar graphics to PS2 which is gonna mean more ports ending up on it.

I'm not looking at sites that focus on one system, because some are biased. I come to Spong for a broader view of more formats.

Yes, I too would worry whether it will fit in my pocket. I have a right to know if I'm buying one. And yes I know it has a screen cover, should be interesting to see if the cover comes with PSP, or if Sony want you to buy it seperately.

It's cool if you don't agree. Fact still remains that if it's too expensive a lot won't buy it til the price drops. I'll look forward to the PSP tech discussion to find out.
