N-Gage II Poised to Rock London
We have today received an invite from Nokia to attend what seems certain to be the unveiling of the next-generation of N-Gage, at an event scheduled to take place in London on April 14.

The invite reads: "You've heard the rumours... N-Gage invites you to join them on Wednesday 14 April. You’ve heard the rumours. You’ve read the hype. Now, see the reality. N-Gage invites you to join us on Wednesday 14 April to be one of the first to see into the revolutionary future of 21st century mobile gaming (no crystal ball necessary!)."

Nothing more than the time and location was on the invitation, adding weight to the news exclusively revealed right here that foretold of the new machine some time this year.

Indeed, speaking only to us, Ray Haddow, head of product marketing and business development at Nokia, said back in November 2003, "I will say that we are constantly upgrading products and evolving successful lines, just look at our mobile phone output. We are aware of the feedback after the launch of the original. Nokia constantly releases upgrades to its products and N-Gage will be part of this process and will see a successor."

Expect full coverage of what now seems certain to be an update to the N-Gage, right here, as it breaks.

N-Gage 2 wish list...

When used a phone it doesn't make you look a utter fool

When switching games there's no need to power down.

When playing games (in single player), there's no need for a SIM card.

When buying games, there are more than 10 to choose from.

Any others?

MP3/AAC Player, video camera, 3G, still camera, BLueTooth, decent PDA capabilities, standard Java game downloads.

In fact, almost EXACTLY like a Nokia 7600 please ;-)

To be honest I don't think Nokia should bother with an N-Gage 2. They should just stick to doing phones, because this sector of the industry is gonna become to crowded. Once PSP, NDS and GBA2 are on the market, where will that leave N-Gage 2? In the bargain bin at Carphone Warehouse no doubt. Will they be pushing N-Gage 6 by then I wonder? Go figure.
