According to this week’s Famitsu, the PSP will be launching in mid-December 2004 in Japan, not November as was recently touted by Sony Europe boss Chris Deering.
The article quotes Sony Computer Entertainment vice president Masatsuka Saeki who made the following assertions:
SCE will preview several PSP titles at E3. Interestingly, a slant on gaming that will appeal to girls and women will be prevalent.
As previously reported, Koei is working on three titles. Although nothing has yet been announced, Dynasty Warriors is almost certainly included.
Sega will announce plans for PSP at ‘an event in autumn’ which almost certainly spells a Tokyo Game Show full of portable Sonic action.
Namco intends to have between two and three games available on day one, across the globe, for the PSP. Expect Ridge Racer and Tekken at the very least.
Capcom also plans to have at least one title available at launch. However, Kenzo Tsujimoto, President of Capcom, has echoed complaints made by developers the world over that the machine is prohibitively expensive to develop for. Konami is also preparing at least one PSP game to coincide with the machine’s launch.
In shock news, Square Enix is still undecided as to whether it should support the PSP.
