Sonic N makes platform jump as Finnish rage hots up.

We brought you news on Friday that told of various, seemingly legally completed hacks of Nokia’s N-Gage system that enables other mobile handsets to run the much-trumpeted game software, which comprises arguably the device’s only USP.

Phones using the Symbian operating system, especially various Siemens models, have, according to compelling evidence, been able to run at least Sonic N.

Speaking to CNET, a Nokia representative said, "We are aware websites are reporting to have hacked copies of our games. We are looking into such claims and take them very seriously. It would allow pirates to steal copyright-protected material and that is illegal."

However, if a piece of middleware is developed, using perhaps a USB add-on, this would surely be in Nokia’s favour, given that the firm loses money on hardware and makes money when selling software.

On the other hand, if you can simply download full games and run them through an emulator on any compatible handset, the sales of N-Gage games are sure suffer.
