We have followed the story of the Half-Life 2 theft closely since it emerged last week.
And today, reports are stating that the entire game was lifted by hackers, not just the source code as was first thought.
Speaking on NewsCom, senior investigator at digital security outfit PivX Thor Larholm said that he had found both the source code, as well as maps and art files. He said that his team compiled the game from various points on the Internet, it ran, and it appeared to be Half-Life 2.
As reported in our other story, Half-Life 2 has slipped from this year's release schedule as a result of the hack. It is a very serious hack, and it highlights some loose security policies. I definitely hope they catch these guys, said Larholm, pointing out that if the hackers have a free run with the code, it could leave end users of Half-Life 2 open to serious attacks in the future.
