More ‘GameCube is doomed’ misery
Every Xbox owner knows that the GameCube is doomed, and it has emerged that the latest nail in the coffin comes in the form of development and publishing withdrawal from Eidos.

According to Eidos CEO Mike McGarvey, there just isn’t enough of a margin to make support worthwhile, describing it as a “declining business.”

However, it’s worth remembering that Nintendo is currently making a profit on every machine it sells, the only hardware manufacturer able to make such a claim. Then you have to remember that last week, the GameCube was the best-selling console in Japan, powered by a third-party game, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

So does Nintendo need support from the likes of Acclaim and Eidos? Given the firm’s financials, currently abounding with Burnsian pith and vinegar, arguably not.

We’ll bring you more on this as it breaks.
