Ken Kutaragi - the creator of Playstation, and now uber-boss of very good things, has sent all net chatter of past into the grave.
The man has simply, categorically, flatly, bluntly - and every other
adjective that denotes definiteness - stated, that Playstation 3 *will
not* use the IBM Cell Processor. The Cell won''t be ready until 2007 and
Playstation 3 is aiming for a 2005/2006 launch in Japan.
The Cell processor, which is often spoken of by programmers in a way
that denotes they would leave their wives for it, is a big selling point
- at least to the development community - and one wanders what Sony will pull out of their hats as a replacement.
As always, we'll have it here first.
