The video games industry has for weeks been a-buzz with rumour and speculation that struggling French media giant Vivendi is poised to sell off its highly profitable games division.
However, group CEO Ken Cron has insisted that this isn’t the case. The main man behind the publisher that released Warcraft 3, Half Life and The Thing said, “It's an integral part of our company's future. Certainly, consolidation in any field that is as fragmented as this is will continue to move through this system. That's not to say that development and other companies aren't coming to us, which they are.”
Vivendi is poised to release a Lord of the Rings game which it expects to be a massive success, along with future instalments of Warcraft and Half Life.
