We know that everybody in the world loves Xbox Live. It is very popular, even if you have to pay for Gold membership. But can it really have added 2 million members since April 2013?According to one Microsoft executive, Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Marketing, Strategy and Business, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, it certainly has achieved this remarkable feat.
On April 18th of this year,
during an analyst and investor call for Microsoft's third financial quarter figures, Peter Klein - Chief Financial Officer at Microsoft - told investors and analysts:
"Xbox Live now has over 46 million members, up 18% from the prior year. Clearly there’s a lot of momentum, and with E3 only a couple of months away, we look forward to sharing more shortly."
Today Time Warner published a press release to pimp the fact that, "Warner Cable officially launched the TWC TV™ application on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system today. TWC video subscribers who are Xbox Live Gold members now have the ability to watch up to 300 live TV channels through their Xbox 360, giving them access to their favorite shows through this popular device."
Also in the PR was Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Marketing, Strategy and Business, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft who not only pointed out what we all knew already, that:
“At Xbox, our vision has always been to provide all the entertainment people want in one place,” but alsoi chucked in a figure:
“We partner with the biggest brands in the entertainment to bring today’s TV favorites to the living room for 48 million Xbox Live members and we couldn’t be happier to welcome TWC customers to the Xbox family.”
46,000,000 in April.
48,000,000 in August.
That's heading for 50,000,000 by Xmas then surely.
