0x10c - was going to be the new game from Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson until he decided to pull out of it. Fear not though, it's been taken up as a Community title and could still come into being.Notch made it clear that he had no future plans for the nostalgic sandbox space game during a
Team Fortress 2 live stream over on Twitch. He has indicated that the game was on hold back in April. Now, however, the community that came to life after the initial announcement has taken up the idea.
According to
Geek.com, "Redditor Nouht was speaking to Notch in a Team Fortress 2 livestream, when the Minecraft creator said that he has no future aspirations for 0x10c, and that he will instead continue working on smaller games for the rest of his life. He did say that if someone else at the Mojang office wanted to pick up where he left off, that would be fine."
The
USgamer site has also noted that, "Shane Dalton, who serves as Project Lead and head writer the community-run endeavor, has little to say about 0x10c being shelved. "I think we didn't really look into why he put it on hold. We just sort of looked at the project and were like, 'Okay. This is a community project now.' We're not using any of his old code, his name or anything."
The game has also - to get around possible copyright problems - been renamed to
Project Trillek.
