Sony's president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will be region-free.As you can see below, he said as much on Twitter. Also confirmed was the fact that, as is the case with the PS3, the HDD will be upgradeable.
Sony's riding a current of goodwill this morning, with announcements at its E3 press conference such as a
lack of DRM and a
lower-than-Xbox One price point garnering a lot of positivity from gamers.
"It was a great day today, an understatement :)" Yoshida
noted.
It wasn't quite an unbroken streak of good news, however. Yoshida
confirmed that, as we reported earlier, the
multiplayer on the PS4 will be for members of the paid PlayStation Plus service only. Multiplayer on the PS3 and Vita will continue to have a free option, however.
