Microsoft Xbox Division Not a Trojan Horse Now
For many years there has been an argument that Microsoft is happy to use its Entertainment and Devices Division (basically, Xbox Central) as some sort of loss-leader or 'Trojan Horse" to get the young folks into the Microsoft fold. Not any longer.

The company just released its Third Financial Quarter results and the services surrounding the Xbox 360 hardware have done very nicely indeed even discounting some $380 million for a "video game deferral" - aka the amount spent in November 2013 on the launch of Halo 4. The official word is:

"The Entertainment and Devices Division posted revenue of $2.53 billion, an increase of 56% from the prior year period. Adjusting for the recognition of revenue related to the Video Game Deferral, the division’s non-GAAP revenue increased 33% for the third quarter. Xbox LIVE now has over 46 million members worldwide, an 18% increase from the prior year period."

More analysis when we've gone over the detail.
