There might be a reason why details on Destiny are a bit thin at the moment, despite the hyped-up non-blowout on Sunday. According to Activision, Bungie's upcoming space shooter isn't due for release until next year at the earliest."Activision reiterated that although Bungie's amazing new world was revealed today, Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result," reads a press release on the subject.
For reference, Activision's financial year runs alongside the calendar year (this year will end on December 31 2013), so you can take it as read that
Destiny is heading for a 2014 release.
The game has been confirmed for a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release at launch,
with next-generation versions released sometime thereafter. A PC version currently isn't planned, but Bungie has admitted that it would love for it to happen.
