Notch Tells Microsoft to Stop Trying to 'Ruin the PC'
Markus Persson aka 'Notch' aka the man behind Minecraft has taken a very public stand against Microsoft's attempts - via Windows 8 certification - to co-opt the open-platform that is the PC.

He points out today (using his own spelling and grammar - and why not, the man has achieved a lot) that he:

"Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help "certify" minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform."

Ouch. But things get more ouch with his next tweet:

"I'd rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way.." is his rallying cry.

What do you reckon? Would you like nice, dull, safe certified games on your PC? Or would you like to be excited and enthused? Tell us on our Free and Friendly Forum.

Certification should be a guarantee that a program will function correctly on an operating system and nothing else.

Operating systems should not refuse to run uncertified content.
