Microsoft has announced the opening of a new games studio in London. The new outfit will add to the company's growing list of UK first-party developers, including Rare, Lionhead and Soho Studios. The move matches comments made by Vigil Games art director Han Randhawa, who told SPOnG in an upcoming interview that Microsoft is looking to add to the UK games industry.
Currently, there are job openings for senior staff to run the new studio, which might focus on first-party free-to-play games and online casual experiences on Xbox. Those applying for the positions are being asked for knowledge in online, mobile and cloud services.
"EMEA is a key market for us and we continue to cultivate the best talent and focus on growing our business, with this role focused on the continued expansion of our Microsoft Studios business in the region," a company spokesperson told
