Mass Effect 3 Endings See PAX East Protest Call
Let's kick this one off by saying that there are NO SPOILERS in this story. There is, however, a hell of a lot of a moaning and the sound of "Waaaaa" echoing through forums. Basically people are not happy with the endings to Mass Effect 3. So much so that a protest is being organised for the panel event at the forthcoming PAX East.

SPOnG reporter Chris "Kropotkin" O'Regan has pointed the following request made on the PAX E forum, "I'd just like to make it known for those fans who have finished the game, or those who haven't but are still upset about the way it ends, I'm trying to organize a group of fans to stand together and voice our concerns at the Mass Effect panel. This isn't to be rude, violent, or in any way break the rules of the event or to detract from it. We just want to make our voices heard. It's a lot harder to ignore fans speaking directly to you than it is to ignore posts on a forum. There's the secondary purpose in trying to find some solace in companionship, as well."

This comes in the wake of a petition to change the game's endings appearing on the Bioware social site (DO NOT follow that link if you've not finished the game because IT DOES contain spoilers and whinging).

It's not whinging, it's genuine concern over the fact that the ending provides absolutely no closure, and in a game based on choice, takes it all away and tells you none of it actually ever mattered.

This article is completely biased and unfair.

The ending is riddled with weird stuff. This video sums up the deleted content, plotholes and the inconsistencies in the ending. Suffice to say there are spoilers, so beware.

Clearly, you haven't played through the ending yet. And if you were one of the green ending is so great, well you are for the people that like to alter everyone for who they are for good.

I completely agree

On one side of the argument, I see logical critiques of the ending. On the other, I see media coverage that insults all of these gamers by calling them whiners, and lump all the criticism into "people want a happy ending". That's not true, by the way; I think most of us wouldn't care if the entire universe exploded so long as we were given a very, very good explanation of why. Our complaint is with the writing, inconsistencies, and flaws, all of which are very out of tune with the rest of the game.

Mild spoilers follow, but not really, as it's a generic example using another thing that's fairly popular.

It's basically like if Harry Potter ended with a mysterious policeman that offers Harry three different guns to shoot Voldemort with, and right after he presses the trigger the book ends. Sure, Rowling could end it that way if she wanted, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be really s**tty writing.

Highly recommend playing the game through, or at least doing real research before insulting the gaming community, and especially the those who've raised valid concerns about the substantive problems in the ending (since there's really only one, to be honest). This is a great start if you're looking for facts, not sound bites: http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-ending-hatred-5-reasons-the-fans-are-right/1/
