*** UPDATE***

When we say 'Definitely' and 'Confirmed' we mean it. EA has confirmed full details right here.

*** END UPDATE***

It's been long rumoured that Mass Effect 3 will have some type of multiplayer experience when it's finally released next year but now we have confirmation. Australian games magazine PC PowerPlay has a feature in their upcoming issue that says it's definitely happening.

In an interview with Series Producer Casey Hudson it's confirmed for the first time that the Mass Effect universe is going to have some kind of multiplayer effort. As to what this will be we don't know yet as we're yet to see the magazine itself but assumptions can be made. It's most likely that there'll be some kind of co-op effort probably involving four players (as that's been rumoured before).

Who knows what else there could be? Full-on deathmatches perhaps? Whatever the multiplayer component is, there's one thing you can guarantee: whining. Long-time fans of the series will always worry that any work that concentrates on anything but the single player game could have a detrimental effect. We're pretty sure that BioWare will have more than a couple of people working on ME3 though, so we wouldn't worry too much...
