Shhh, whisper it... because Microsoft has, but the Zune is entering its death cycle mainly because Microsoft isn't making the device any more, concentrating instead on Windows Phone.
According to an AFP report, "The announcement of the demise of the Zune was buried on a support page for the device.
"We will no longer be producing Zune players," Microsoft said, adding that "going forward, Windows Phone will be the focus of our mobile music and video strategy."
The quieter than quiet news continued, "And we will continue to honor the warranties of all devices for both current owners and those who buy our very last devices."

It's a shame, as I always really wanted a Zune. I was hoping there would be more support for it, especially over here in the UK, but nope.
I did want a proper alternative to the iPod, and the Zune seemed to be it. Oh well?
