So far, the critical reception to zombie-shooter Dead Island has been rather less than stellar. Thankfully, developer Deep Silver has come out fighting with news of DLC that's due to arrive before the end of the month. The Bloodbath Arena pack will add four new maps in which players will take on an unending stream of horrors. There's also
been an announcement that mentions a day one patch that will hopefully solve a few issues that have plagued early players.
It's not all good news though – it seems that this update may well wipe game saves. Deep Silver just doesn't seem to be able to catch a break at the moment, the poor buggers.
Admittedly it feels like an attempt to sweep their mistakes under the carpet (which include
releasing the wrong version of the game via Steam and having some
uncouth language in the game's code), but it's nice to be able to report on some good news about the game.
Hopefully the update will act as a silver bullet and magically sort out all their problems so people can just get on with playing
Dead Island. Oh, and if you've not read the SPOnG review, shame on you:
it's right here.
