Gameloft has made plenty of money from mobile gaming but it's not been easy. Despite predictions that the market will grow to nearly $8billion by 2014, Gameloft's CFO is still not happy. Alexandre de Rochefort told the Reuters Global Technology Summit, that, "It's an ugly scene. The smartphone market is not a goldmine for developers. It's a bit like playing the lottery."
The Reuters report also states that, "But lower barriers to entry for game developers mean competition is intense, and would-be market entrants should beware of being carried away by the success of a handful of games like Angry Birds, industry executives said this week."
