Lionhead's Kinect tech demo, Project Milo, has reportedly been cancelled, with 19 contractors "let go" yesterday. The remaining staff is said to be focusing its attention on the Fable franchise, with elements of the technology used in a future game in the series. This is all according to a source close to the situation, speaking to
Eurogamer. But the fact that
Milo would not be hitting retail is of no surprise, given Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg's assertion that the
project would be used for R&D purposes only.
If true, it would be interesting to see the full results of the
Milo experiment, and how it could be applied to Kinect games. When it was unveiled at E3 2009, Peter Molyneux's interactive "trick" was certainly the most impressive showcase of the motion-sensing technology.
We've approached Microsoft and Lionhead for comment, with no comment made as of yet.
