Capcom and Level 5 Collaborate

Talks of team-up and confirms rumours

A interview carried out by business information website Diamond Online has revealed that Capcom's Keiji Inafune and Level 5's (Professor Layton and the Curious Village) Akihiro Hino are collaborating on an as-of-yet unannounced project.

When pressed over rumours that the two developers were working with each other, Infune replied that "This rumour is true. Right now, the two of us, with our staff, are working together on some truly interesting things. Even though Mr Hino is younger, he's someone I respect. I wanted to try working with him, so I contacted him."

Hino also commented on what he and his studio are doing in regards to overseas expansion. He explained that he and his team were at this year's E3 trade show but more as a learning experience than to have fun. He said of the show that:

"Next year or maybe the year after that, we'd like to have Level-5 exhibit at E3. While it's recently become normal for us to exhibit at the Tokyo Game Show, to exhibit at E3 we feel that we have one more mountain to cross."

Currently Level 5 has expanded its operations by opening offices in Los Angeles this year. The company also intends to open branch offices in Europe sometime in the near future.

Just what could this collaboration between Capcom and Level 5 be? With the number of titles Capcom as a developer has produced to date and Level-5 being renowned for titles such as the Professor Layton series, one can only wonder what fabulous titles could emerge from this partnership.

Here's hoping it's "Capcom Vs. Professor Layton", as that annoying Layton needs a good smack in the face for all his smugness.
