Joe Danger developer Sean Murray from Hello Games has recently been discussing how many people who bought their PSN download-only title played it to completion and whether making the title was worth it.He discusses the qualities of titles with varying lenghts of gameplay time and how most people don't complete long games nowadays. On his own studio's title he said that:
"Only about 10 per cent of people who bought
Joe Danger have completed it (their average play time is well over 20 hours). Most journalists didn’t get past the halfway mark. Was it a wasted effort to add those last few levels that most people don’t see though? Is it valueless?"
He then goes on to reiterate that those 10% of players matter to them dearly and that "it’s the finest part of the game, we’ve spent 20 hours building to that final level."
SPONG mentioned the
first week's sales of the title in a previous post, which shows that Hello Games is in the black.
Do you play every game you own through to completion? Do you have the time? Do you own so many games that there aren't enough hours in the day to play through them all entirely (of this I can say 'guilty as charged'). Comment below and show us how much time you put into your latest purchase before you move onto the next one.
