Sony makes PSP into iPhone Challenger
Sony has released an advert that sees its PSP version of Kevin Butler, a small, 'edgy', yoof called Marcus telling a wet nerd that his iPhone "ain't built for big boy games". The PSP is though.

The ad, which you can see below, has young Marcus explaining that the phone is "built for texting your grandma and calling your girl."

He then goes onto say that with the PSP and only $9.99 you can play Buzz, Everybody's Golf... that's $9.99. What on earth can you get on an iPhone for that? Angry Birds HD anybody? Maybe young Marcus is phoning it in? Maybe he'll be able to on a PSP soon.

I doubt it. They are just trying steal some of the market Apple have with the casual games on the move. Problem is, it might be for big boys games, but a PSP is 3 times as big as an iPhone and it only does one job. Sure, the games are deeper and that, but gaming on the move doesn't fit games that take hours to play. If you want to kill 15 minutes, you would probably do it on an iPhone game.

The PSP is now offically dead. and the not even released yet PSP 2 is also dead unless it gets 3d is dead. Hand held console need something to be different from an iphone because at the moment they have that segment locked down.

I don't see myself buying an iPhone because of its games - at all (ok, maybe Street Fighter IV...).

I view there being a difference between "portable" and "on the move" - if I'm waiting for a bus or something, maybe I'd play a little game with no depth purely to take up the time, just because I could. Whereas if, for example, I'm going on holiday, I'm not taking a PS3 and a TV with me, am I? Yet basic games aren't going to be fun when playing them an hour or so a day for several days.
