While Guerilla Games reckons it has pushed the PlayStation 3's capability to 100 per cent for Killzone 3, Uncharted 2 developer Naughty Dog believes there's still life left in the console. The studio's community strategist Arne Meyer revealed that, despite cracking out an absolutely stunning-looking game in
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, there are still ways it can improve a "good number" of things via engine refinement.
"This is difficult to quantify at this point, but it’s very clear to us that there are still more ways we can optimize our engine and introduce new technology innovations," Meyer told
PlayStation Universe. "There are still engine-related projects that some of our programmers didn’t get around to working on or implementing. There’s definitely a good number of ways left for us to make really cool things happen on the engine level."
Apparently this has led some to assume that
Uncharted 3 is definitely happening and will kick the pants out of Guerilla's visual efforts by a mile. We had a proper look. No mention of
Uncharted 3 there. Just saying.
