BioWare: More Mass Effect Coming Post-3

Game saves carrying on into Mass Effect 3

Despite the fact that the current run of Mass Effect games is planned as a trilogy, developer BioWare has confirmed that the third game in the series won't be the last we'll see of that universe.

Speaking to Kotaku, BioWare's co-founder, Greg Zeschuk, said of the Mass Effect universe, "We're actually going to continue to use it for stuff and we're going to continue to make games there... Don't worry if you love Mass Effect, there will be more Mass Effect in the future."

There was no word one way or the other on whether future games will follow in the RPG vein of the current trilogy.

Zeschuk kept fairly quiet about what we can expect from Mass Effect 3, but he did note that the save system will be carried over, meaning that game saves from the first two titles will be usable in the third. It's, "Even to the point where some of the decisions you made in 1 you'll see the result in 3", he said. "It's actually interestingly impactful in that folks who have stuck with the franchise the entire time, there will be stuff that you will feel is yours that you've created in that third iteration."

Mass Effect 2 is out next week.
