Uncharted Movie Changes Writers
The film adaptation of Uncharted has had a slight change in approach, as Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly, best known for their work in ‘Sahara’ and ‘A Sound of Thunder,’ replace Kyle Ward as script writers.

Latino Review reports that the deal with Ward fell through, leaving Oppenheimer and Donnelly to scribe the film’s story. The adaptation is believed to be based on the events that take place in the first game, ‘Drake’s Fortune.’ In the 2007 PS3 title, Nathan Drake travels to recover a golden statue from the fabled land of El Dorado. Then guerillas, rival treasure hunters and mutated creatures get thrown into the mix.

While Naughty Dog has been critically praised for its storytelling in the field of computer games, film adaptations of the medium have so far been pretty hit and miss. Here’s hoping Oppenheimer and Donnell can pen a story that not only respects the events of Uncharted, but also doesn’t make for a ridiculous viewing experience.

Not that Spanish/Nazi mutants weren’t ridiculous in the first place of course...

El Dorado IS the statue, I agree the mutants did seem out of place, at first, but then it was explained further down the road.

Not seen either of those films so can't comment on the writers
